The 2025 Oklahoma football team probably isn't complete yet.
After a transfer window already came and went during the winter, the college football transfer portal will open again for the spring on Wednesday. This time, though, it will be open for a shorter amount of time compared to the winter, and close just over a week later on Friday, April 25.
College football transfer portal opens again during spring
This will be the Sooners' first transfer cycle since hiring new general manager Jim Nagy. His job as GM is to find and evaluate talent to improve OU's roster, so you can bet he makes some changes his first chance.
During the last cycle, the Sooners added 15 players from the transfer portal while losing 27. The group of additions was headlined by Washington State quarterback John Mateer, who was the No. 1 player available when he committed to OU. The Sooners also nabbed four receivers to surround Mateer with.
Defensively, the Sooners added a pair of players who should immediately crack the starting lineup in Oklahoma State linebacker/safety Kendal Daniels and Florida State defensive end Marvin Jones Jr.
This time around, the Sooners still need to bolster some spots on the offensive side of the ball, especially tight end. OU added three to the position during the winter cycle, but none have any Power Four experience or are serious threats in the passing game.
The Sooners' first portal loss of the spring was also a tight end in redshirt freshman Davon Mitchell. He never saw the field at OU, but was a promising talent as a former four-star recruit. However, there were reports of Mitchell missing several team activities recently.
With spring ball ending on Saturday for OU with the Crimson Combine, other players will also likely hit the portal soon after it opens depending on how their spring went and Nagy's early impression of them.
Although it was already a busy winter for the Sooners, it shouldn't be a boring spring of transfer portal activity for them.
