The Oklahoma Sooners' 2027 recruiting class is definitely impressive with 21 total commits already, but it's not perfect.
The Sooners have the best 2027 recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports, while Rivals ranks it at No. 3 behind Texas A&M and Texas Tech, respectively. Although the needs are rare, the Sooners still need to use the looming official visit season to answer the few questions their class still has.
3. Another cornerback
Despite already having two cornerbacks committed, it's evident the Sooners are wanting to add at least one more to this class after already missing out on four-star Juju Johnson, who abruptly committed to in-state UCLA on May 2 after being predicted to choose OU. He also made the decision before his set announcement date and an official visit to Norman on June 12.
The loss of Johnson didn't end the Sooners' search at the position, though. They recently entered the mix for two new top targets in four-star athlete Gideon Gash, who excels as a corner and wide receiver, and four-star Bryce Williams, who is basically choosing between OU and Nebraska at this point. Both have scheduled official visits to Oklahoma for this spring.
With that, though, even if the Sooners were too late to land another corner, it's not a detrimental loss with two commits already.

2. Jaxsen Stokes replacement
This shouldn't be a need for long at the pace new running backs coach Deland McCullough is working at on the recruiting trail.
The Sooners had two 2027 running backs locked in with top-5 prospect at the position Keldrid Ben and three-star Jaxsen Stokes, but then Stokes suddenly flipped to in-state Cal on April 26 to leave OU needing to fill the void.
In hindsight, Stokes' move might have worked out best for the Sooners, because now McCullough can pursue his own guy instead of recruits DeMarco Murray chose. Just four days after Stokes' decision, three-star TJ Lewis announced an OU offer as McCullough's first with the Sooners. Then, just last week, three-star Jakoby Dixon also announced an offer and within 24 hours already had the Sooners at the top of his list.
1. Wide receiver with size
The Sooners have three wide receivers committed so far, but -- and OU fans will hate to hear this -- none are listed over 6-foot. Four-star Demare Dezeurn, at 5-foot-10, is OU's highest-rated commit at the position as a speedy playmaker. Three-star Greydon Howell, who's 5-foot-11, is a freak athlete who does it all for in-state Broken Bow High School.
Then, there's three-star Tra'Von Hall from Alabama. He's the Sooners' tallest commit at 6-foot, but his recruitment has recently exploded and it seems highly unlikely he'll actually be a Sooner as other programs are knocking and he's answering.
When Hall inevitably changes his mind, the Sooners need to take advantage of that loss to gain a receiver with size, which could require flipping a prospect from someone else. Speedsters are great to have, but overloading signing classes with the same type of playmaker will crowd the roster with unnecessary athletes and have OU searching for what it needs down the road.
