Tra’Von Hall gives Oklahoma more reason to worry about his commitment

This commitment is far from secure.

Tra’Von Hall is committed to the Oklahoma Sooners, but it sure doesn't sound like it.

Hall, a 2027 wide receiver, has been pledged to the Sooners since Nov. 30, but his recruitment has recently exploded and he continues to make it clear that nothing is guaranteed yet, including most recently to Rivals' Parker Thune.

Sooners losing grips on Tra’Von Hall but that might be OK

"I’m really just visiting other schools to see what fits me," Hall told Thune. "I don’t really want to shut down nothing right now."

The last commit the Sooners had say something to Thune decommitted shortly after.

The Sooners benefited from jumping on Hall early before he was even rated or ranked by any major recruiting outlet. When OU offered in October, the only other Power Four options Hall had were Mississippi State and Colorado. Not even in-state Alabama or Auburn had taken a chance on the local product who even plays in the same town as the Crimson Tide.

Since, though, Hall has added offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt out of the SEC as his recruiting rankings have also rocketed. According to the 247Sports Composite, Hall, listed at 6-foot, is the No. 76 receiver in the 2027 class and No. 25 player in the state of Alabama as a three-star prospect. Those numbers will likely improve even more throughout his senior season.

Hall already being committed didn't stop new SEC rivals from going after him during his rise. And the interest has been mutual. He's had multiple coaches visit him at Central High School in Tuscaloosa and has also scheduled trips this summer to Florida (May 28), Ole Miss (June 5) and Oklahoma (June 12). A short trip down the road to Bama will also likely be in the future.

At least for the Sooners, they get the last pitch of the heat of recruiting season to Hall. However, at this point, it's worth wondering if Hall is even still worth OU's time. A flip seems inevitable at this point, and the later that happens, the less time the Sooners would have to get a replacement. It might be better to move on now and set sights on a new target that will more likely be a Sooner on signing day.
