After Oklahoma was an early arrival, more SEC programs, including in-state Alabama, are trying to crash the Sooners' party with 2027 wide receiver Tra'Von Hall.

The Sooners saw something in Hall early on and were rewarded for their foresight when he committed to OU after visiting Norman when the Sooners beat LSU to clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff. However, as Hall's recruiting stock has risen, so has the Sooners' competition in keeping their early commit.

LSU and Florida also trying to steal Sooners commit

When Hall, listed at 6-foot, committed to the Sooners on Nov. 30, he was still unrated and unranked by every major recruiting outlet. OU was just his third Power Four offer after Mississippi State and Colorado, while both major in-state programs, Alabama and Auburn, had overlooked the local talent at that point.

Since his decision, though, Hall been upgraded to a consensus three-star recruit, and his growing stock could continue to rise throughout his senior season. According to the 247Sports Composite, Hall is the No. 92 wide receiver in the 2027 class and No. 26 overall prospect in the state of Alabama out of Central High School, which is in the shadow of Bryant-Denny Stadium and just minutes away from Alabama's campus in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama last month finally offered the rising in-state product. LSU and Florida, both under new leadership, have also offered Hall since his commitment to the Sooners. Florida head coach Jon Sumrall and wide receivers coach Marcus Davis visited Hall last week in Alabama just a week after Davis was there before. LSU wide receivers coach George McDonald also visited Hall the same day as Sumrall and Davis.

The Sooners' biggest threat, though, is the hometown Crimson Tide. Hall made the short drive up the road to visit Alabama during its Junior Day this past weekend. He has also since shared a post that highlighted all the in-state recruits Bama has recently offered, including Hall.

After the visit to Bama, Hall told 247Sports' Brett Greenberg, "Got comfortable quickly." The Sooners can match just about anything the Crimson Tide offers, but they can't compete with being only minutes from home.

Aware of the growing threats, the Sooners paid multiple visits to Hall during January while also recruiting throughout the state. OU wide receivers coach Emmett Jones visited Hall the day between his offers from Florida and Alabama. The Sooners then sent the whole regime last week as Jones returned with head coach Brent Venables and offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle.

The Sooners so far have commitments from Hall and four-star Demare Dezeurn, and offers still extended to multiple other prospects at wide receiver. Losing Hall wouldn't be detrimental this early to the Sooners' 2027 class, but it's still a battle worth fighting against SEC competitors, even for the satisfaction of taking one of Alabama's own.
