There was once worry the Oklahoma Sooners wouldn't have any wide receivers in their 2026 recruiting class, but now, they're up to three.

Brayden Allen committed to the Sooners on Wednesday evening after decommitting from Tulane just two days before.

Brayden Allen flips from Tulane to Sooners

This move was expected after Allen's decommitment from Tulane on Monday. He visited OU on Sept. 20, when the Sooners beat Auburn in their SEC opener. Allen was then at Colorado the next weekend, so once he was officially back on the market, it was known one of those programs would be his landing spot.

Allen, listed at 6-foot-1, is a consensus three-star recruit from Lafayette Christian Academy in Louisiana. According to the 247Sports Composite, Allen is the No. 84 receiver in the 2026 class and No. 20 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana.

Last season as a junior, Allen had 55 catches for 1,155 yards and 10 touchdowns with 21 yards per reception. He also plays on defense and special teams for Lafayette Christian Academy.

Allen's recruitment picked up steam after he had already committed to Tulane on July 16. On top of the OU and Colorado offers, Oklahoma State and Ole Miss also extended offers to Allen after his commitment.

The Sooners pursued Allen in August once they somewhat hit desperation mode to secure a wide receiver from the 2026 class. OU had one receiver committed in four-star Daniel Odom at that point and had just missed out on four-star WR Davian Groce after he chose Florida just moments before his decision. Odom's status was even in question then until reassuring his commitment to OU after multiple reports said he was looking at other options.

Odom has been locked in, though, and the Sooners also discovered a possible gem in their home state with 6-foot-5 Xavier Okwufulueze, who's from Rejoice Christian Academy in Owasso, Oklahoma, and just recently popped up on recruiting radars.

Less than two months after scrambling for talent, the Sooners now have three wide receivers locked in two months before Early National Signing Day.
