The Oklahoma Sooners' first class with Jim Nagy as general manager is officially signed and secured after the Early Signing Period for 2026 recruits, but Nagy, with his first class in control from the start, is cooking up something special for 2027. And Nagy warned on Wednesday there is still more 2027 talent coming soon.
It's still extremely early in the cycle, but with the 2026 class now presumably complete, all focus can now turn to the Sooners' 2027 group. Oklahoma has already landed 10 commitments as of Thursday to boast the No. 1 2027 class in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.
Tracking Sooners' top 2027 recruiting class
Offensive lineman Cooper Hackett is the early headliner of the 2027 class. From Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Hackett was briefly committed to Texas Tech, but then reportedly took less money to stay home and be a Sooner.
Hackett is a five-star recruit and top player in the state, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 3 offensive tackle in the class and No. 13 overall prospect.
Just moments after Cooper Hackett pledged to the Sooners, Kaeden Penny made his decision to give the Sooners both of their five-star commits on the same day. And both happen to be Oklahoma grown offensive linemen, with Penny coming from local powerhouse Bixby High School.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Penny is a five-star recruit as the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the class and No. 27 overall prospect in the country. Rivals also ranks him as the fifth-best offensive tackle in the class, showing he'll be able to play wherever the Sooners need him one day.
The Sooners continue to head west to find talent, and they did it again with wide receiver Demare Dezeurn. According to the 247Sports Composite, Dezeurn, listed at 5-foot-10 but extremely quick, is the No. 15 receiver in the class and the Sooners' third top-100 prospect at No. 96.
So far, edge rusher Krew Jones, listed at 6-foot-5, is the highest-rated defensive commit the Sooners have from the 2027 class. He's the No. 19 edge rusher in the class and the No. 149 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The Sooners have made a habit of finding cornerbacks that make an immediate impact, and Mikhail McCreary could continue that trend. He's the No. 24 corner in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Between McCreary above and Mikyal Davis here, it's clear the Sooners wanted a boost in their future secondary as SEC offenses become more and more potent. Davis is below McCreary in recruiting rankings at No. 41.
The Sooners again went all the way to California to get running back Jaxsen Stokes, the No. 42 running back in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Offensive tackle Luke Wilson was an early believer in the Sooners' turnaround and was the first commit to the 2027 class back in August before the group exploded. Wilson, listed at 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, is the No. 51 OT in the class.
The Sooners had to do some digging to find wide receiver Tra'Von Hall, who's currently unrated by recruiting services and had just one other Power Four offer from Colorado.
Running back Keldrid Ben is also unrated, but not for long after the recruiting rankings update soon. This past season as a junior at Montgomery High School in Texas, Ben rushed for 1,560 yards and 15 touchdowns on 152 carries while averaging a whopping 10.3 yards an attempt.
