Speed kills, so Demare Dezeurn could be deadly for the Oklahoma Sooners one day.

Dezeurn, a consensus four-star 2027 wide receiver, announced on Tuesday he's committed to the Sooners after being in Norman for OU's 24-13 win over Michigan on Saturday.

Demare Dezeurn commits to Oklahoma

A day before his announcement, Dezeurn set a top 5 that included OU, Michigan, Miami, Tennessee and UCLA. It was probably pretty easy to erase Michigan off the list after what he witnessed on Saturday. He also held offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas, USC, Utah, Washington and more.

Just a day after Dezeurn was in Norman, OU wide receivers coach Emmett Jones posted a picture from what appeared to be California, likely securing Dezeurn's pledge.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Dezeurn is the No. 17 wide receiver in the 2027 class and No. 95 overall prospect in the country out of Palisades High School in California. On3 lists Dezeurn as an athlete, but he will play receiver at OU.

The only possible knock on Dezeurn has been his size at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds. That size doesn't seem to matter, though, because of his elite speed. This past track season, he set a personal best time of 10.32 seconds in the 100-meter. As a freshman, Dezeurn ran a 6.789 60-meter at the Nike Indoor Nationals to set the national freshman record. He plans to play football and run track at the college level.

That speed clearly translates with pads on. Last season, Dezeurn caught 20 passes for 451 yards and five touchdowns in just seven games. He also added three return touchdowns, while also playing cornerback.

Still early in the cycle, Dezeurn is just the Sooners' second 2027 commitment so far after three-star offensive lineman Luke Wilson. This is the start of the floodgates opening for the Sooners, though, as they're predicted to land more talent soon, including top quarterback target Peyton Houston.
