The Oklahoma Sooners and Georgia Bulldogs aren't scheduled to face off on the football field until Sept. 26 in Athens, but Georgia is already trying to beat the Sooners in May on the recruiting trail.

Rusty Mansell of DawgsHQ, Georgia's On3 site, reported on Monday that Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo will visit 2027 four-star quarterback Jamison Roberts in an attempt to swipe the commit from the Sooners.

Bulldogs visiting Sooners commit Jamison Roberts as his recruitment explodes

Roberts has been committed to the Sooners since their incredible five-commit weekend in early March. He ultimately chose OU after the Sooners were one of the first Power Four programs to believe in him as a three-star recruit. When OU offered back in November, it was only Roberts' fifth Power Four offer after in-state Auburn, Duke, Northwestern and Syracuse.

Since, though, Roberts' recruitment has exploded as many other major programs, including Georgia, have hopped on the bandwagon recently. The Bulldogs didn't even extend an offer until Feb. 26 to join a list that now includes the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, South Carolina and more.

Roberts didn't even start at Saraland High School in Alabama until last season as a junior after backing up future Texas quarterback KJ Lacey. In his first season as the starter, Roberts led his team to a 13-1 record while passing for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and another 21 scores. That was all the Sooners needed to see and offered him during an unofficial visit to Norman during the season.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Roberts, listed at 6-foot-3, is now considered the No. 19 quarterback in the 2027 class and still rising as he puts together impressive 7-on-7 performances this offseason. In February, just before Georgia offered, Rivals boosted Roberts into its Rivals 300 rankings as the No. 250 overall prospect. Another season as QB1 will also raise Roberts' stock by signing day.

Roberts will be back in Oklahoma on June 12 for an official visit, but so far, doesn't have any other reported trips on his schedule this summer. The Bulldogs will certainly be trying to change that Monday, though.

Georgia should definitely be considered a serious threat and more will appear, but the Sooners cannot lose the advantage of being the first SEC program to believe in Roberts as a big-time quarterback.
