A top choice of Oklahoma offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle's to be the Sooners' 2027 quarterback addition has emerged.

With an offer from OU already on the table, 2027 quarterback prospect Jamison Roberts posted via X on Thursday that Arbuckle visted him as they two went to dinner with Roberts' family. As Arbuckle has already missed on two top targets from the class, all sights now appear to be on Roberts in hopes the underrated prospect ends up in Oklahoma and overachieves his early recruiting outlook.

2027 QB Jamison Roberts Sooners recruitment mirrors Bowe Bentley

Roberts is a consensus three-star recruit out of Saraland High School in Alabama. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 25 QB in the class and No. 370 overall prospect. His other offers so far include in-state Auburn, Baylor, Duke, Northwestern, Syracuse, West Virginia, Tulane and multiple Group of Five programs.

Although Roberts' recruiting ratings don't pop out and get fans amped, Arbuckle has already proven he has an eye at seeing great quarterback talent before everyone else does. Arbuckle offered 2026 QB signee Bowe Bentley when he was still unrated and unranked by Rivals. By the time Bentley signed, he was a top-5 QB in the class and consensus four-star prospect with the rest of the country wanting his talents.

Roberts is on a similar trajectory as Bentley after not getting a starting job until last season as a junior after playing behind future Texas quarterback KJ Lacey. In his first season as QB1, Roberts led his team to a 13-1 record while passing for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and 21 scores for 58 total trips to the end zone.

The Sooners so far have extended offers to four 2027 quarterback prospects, including original top target and top-10 prospect Peyton Houston, who chose LSU over OU. Fellow four-star recruit Trae Taylor also had an OU offer before committing to Nebraska. The only other offer from OU out there was to unrated and unranked Jonathan Moore from St. Louis.

With Roberts, though, the Sooners already have a head start if Arbuckle again saw the next big thing coming before anyone else.
