Whether it's general manager Jim Nagy, offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle or anyone else inside that Oklahoma football office, the Sooners keep discovering top-tier talent before anyone else realizes what's there.

OU's top 2027 quarterback target Jamison Roberts on Monday was upgraded from three stars to four while also getting a bump in recruiting rankings in the latest Rivals 300 rankings for the 2027 class.

Jamison Roberts rises in Rivals 300 and earns 4th star

When the Sooners offered Roberts back in November during his first season as a starter, he was a consensus three-star recruit and his only other Power Four offers were from in-state Auburn, Duke, Northwestern and Syracuse. Since then, though, he's gotten offers from Georgia, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Iowa State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Maryland, Iowa, Baylor, Colorado and West Virginia.

Rivals' latest update had Jamison debut in the Rivals 300 at No. 250 and as the No. 18 quarterback in the class. He also surpassed Alabama commit Trent Seaborn as the top QB prospect in the state. According to the 247Sports Composite, Roberts is the No. 23 QB in the class and No. 276 overall prospect. Before the update, he was the No. 25 QB and No. 370 overall player while jumping nearly 100 spots.

Roberts got on recruiting radars late because he didn't even become QB1 at Saraland High School in Alabama until his junior season after backing up future Texas quarterback KJ Lacey. In his first season as the starter, Roberts led his team to a 13-1 record while passing for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and 21 scores for 58 total trips to the end zone. OU offered Roberts during his unofficial visit to Norman in November before his first season as a starter was even complete.

It's an almost identical trajectory as OU 2026 QB commit Bowe Bentley, who the Sooners offered as an unranked recruit after one season as QB1 before he ultimately graduated as a top-5 QB in his class.

Arbuckle believing in Bentley before most others paid off with Bentley now wearing crimson and cream, and it's looking like OU's early offer could work out again with Roberts predicted by many recruiting experts to commit to the Sooners. He already has a top 8 that included OU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Duke, Northwestern, Iowa and Kentucky.
