With an 0-2 count after already missing on two quarterback targets from the 2027 class, it looks like the Oklahoma Sooners finally connected.
Rivals recruiting expert Chad Simmons on Thursday logged a prediction for three-star quarterback Jamison Roberts to commit to the Sooners after narrowing his options down to eight just three days before.
2027 QB Jamison Roberts predicted to commit to Oklahoma
Simmons on Monday reported that Roberts had a top eight that included OU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Duke, Northwestern, Iowa and Kentucky. Just looking at that list alone showed the Sooners had an edge, especially after OU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle jumped on Roberts early before he starts to ascend up recruiting rankings soon.
Roberts didn't get the starting job at Saraland High School in Alabama until last season as a junior after backing up blue-chip prospect and future Texas quarterback KJ Lacey. That stunted Roberts' recruiting ratings with just one season to show as recruiting had already heated up for most top prospects in his class.
In his only season so far as QB1, Roberts led his team to a 13-1 record while passing for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and 21 scores for 58 total trips to the end zone. A senior campaign of that caliber would shoot Roberts up recruiting rankings, especially if he's committed to a blue blood like OU.
For now, Roberts is the No. 25 QB in the 2027 class and No. 370 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's also the No. 14 overall player in the state of Alabama, where the Sooners have been recruiting hard recently.
On to STATE! Great TEAM win last night!

Before making Roberts a top priority, four-star Peyton "Pop" Houston was the Sooners' clear No. 1 target at the position. Houston caught the attention of nearly every college football program in the country as a sophomore when he broke the national high school record for passing yards in a single game with 817. The Sooners were near the front of the tightly contested race for Houston, but he ultimately committed to in-state LSU early on in September. The Sooners also offered four-star Trae Taylor, who committed to his home-state Nebraska Cornhuskers.
