The Oklahoma Sooners made it to the next round of winning the fight to land their top quarterback target from the 2027 recruiting class.
Rivals' Chad Simmons reported on Monday that three-star QB Jamison Roberts has narrowed down his college choices with a top eight that included OU, Ole Miss, Auburn, Arkansas, Duke, Northwestern, Iowa and Kentucky. Just by glancing at logos, it's clear the Sooners are at the front of the pack to land Roberts, but they're at an even bigger advantage thanks to a massive head start.

Roberts' decision came just over two weeks after OU offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle visited Roberts in Alabama and the Sooners made it clear that Roberts is their top choice at QB from the 2027 class after already missing on two four-star prospects at the position. Roberts is also expected to be in Norman in March for OU's junior day.
Arbuckle hopes he discovered another hidden gem before anyone else did with Roberts. The recruitment mirrors the one of OU 2026 signee Bowe Bentley, who Arbuckle offered early as an underrated prospect before Bentley finished as a top-5 QB in the class.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Roberts is the No. 25 QB in the 2027 class and No. 370 overall prospect. He's also the No. 14 overall player in the state of Alabama, where the Sooners have been recruiting hard.
Like Bentley, though, Roberts' stock will keep rising after Arbuckle bought low. Roberts didn't get the starting job at Saraland High School until last season as a junior after backing up blue-chip prospect and future Texas quarterback KJ Lacey.
In his first season as QB1, Roberts led his team to a 13-1 record while passing for 3,370 yards and 37 touchdowns with five interceptions. He also rushed for 641 yards and 21 scores for 58 total trips to the end zone.
On to STATE! Great TEAM win last night!

The race for Roberts will get crowded during his upcoming senior season, but thanks to Arbuckle's early offer, the Sooners already have a headstart in getting Roberts to Oklahoma.
