The Super Bowl of the Oklahoma Sooners' recruiting season is here.
OU will host its annual ChampU BBQ recruiting event this weekend in Norman. A tradition started even before Brent Venables was in charge, the Sooners every summer hold the ChampU BBQ for top prospects and their families for official visits to serve as OU's biggest weekend of visits. It's a time to not only bring in uncommitted prospects, but also OU commits to help recruit potential future teammates.
So far, the Sooners have only nine 2026 commits after losing two this week. The group includes wide receiver Daniel Odom, tight end Ryder Mix, safety Niko Jandreau, linebacker Jakore Smith, offensive lineman Noah Best, defensive back Derrick Johnson II, defensive end Matthew Nelson, running back DeZephen Walker and defensive lineman Brian Harris. For comparison, the Sooners already had a reported 14 pledges ahead of last year's ChampU BBQ.
Those numbers make the 2025 ChampU BBQ even more valuable to make up ground as the flood gates hopefully open after the weekend. Many recruits have already went through Norman, but most will be on campus this weekend.
Below is every recruit expected to be at the ChampU BBQ based on who's announced or reports a week before.
