After a day of recruiting losses last weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners' plans for this upcoming weekend all of a sudden look completely different.
Last week, the Sooners had three 2027 targets who committed to a different program before they were scheduled to be in Norman for an official visit this weekend, including four-star athlete Gideon Gash, three-star defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion and three-star wide receiver Tra'Von Hall, who was actually already committed to OU before flipping to Ole Miss.
The weekend also included four-star wide receiver Demare Dezeurn flipping from OU to Cal and four-star cornerback Bryce Williams picking Nebraska over the Sooners after visiting Oklahoma the week before.
Sooners still alive for Gideon Gash and more 2027 additions
SoonerScoop's Parker Thune reported on Monday that two of those commits canceled their scheduled visits to Oklahoma this weekend to erase any chances of the Sooners pulling off a flip. According to Rivals and On3's visit database, Gash is still expected to visit Norman on Friday, so that door might be shut, but it's not locked yet.
Gash committed to Texas Tech on Saturday while he was in Lubbock. He also still has a visit on the schedule to Alabama on June 19 after his stop in Norman. His official visit season started with a trip to Michigan State on May 29. Gash's recruitment had already been a stunner since he was once destined to be a Spartan like a his two older brothers, but then all of a sudden a grown interest in Gash forced him to entertain other options, including the Sooners.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Gash, from Catholic Central High School in Michigan, is the No. 6 athlete in the 2027 class and No. 2 overall player in the state. He was expected to play defensive back for the Sooners, but also excels as a wide receiver.

Even with a pledge made, it doesn't seem Gash's recruitment is actually over just yet. The Sooners once already flipped a 2027 Texas Tech commit after five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett pledged to the Red Raiders during a visit last year before changing his mind to be a Sooner less than a month later.
The Sooners still have plenty of chances to add to their No. 2 recruiting class in the country this weekend. Outside of Gash, four-star linebacker Case Alexander, three-star cornerback Trenton Blaylock and three-star athlete Jaiden Fields will also visit this week.
Several prospects already committed will also be around to help with recruiting, including five-star OT Kaeden Penny, four-star RB Keldrid Ben, four-star QB Jamison Roberts, four-star safety Jaylen Scott, four-star CB Mikhail McCreary, four-star athlete Greydon Howell, three-star OT Luke Wilson, three-star IOL Isaac Coughran, three-star DL Sione Felila and three-star IOL Tyson Ross.
