Malahn Green just showed up when the Oklahoma Sooners needed him most.
Green is a fast-rising wide receiver prospect in the 2027 recruiting class and impressed the Sooners enough during a camp on Tuesday that he earned an offer. And it was perfect timing for both parties since the Sooners are down to just one committed 2027 receiver in Greydon Howell after losing two WR commits in the same day last weekend.
It was perfect timing for both Malahn Green and Oklahoma
Although the Sooners just entered the mix for Green, things are moving fast and a commitment could be coming sooner than later. This also isn't really a newfound interest in Green since he visited OU during its spring camp back in April. However, the Sooners having two open spots and Green impressing led to that interest getting serious.
According to SoonerScoop's Parker Thune, Green will be back in Oklahoma this weekend, just three days after getting his offer, for an official visit. And it wouldn't be a shock if he committed less than a week after getting his OU offer.
"It's a very high chance of me becoming a Sooner," Green told Thune. He also told 247Sports' Collin Kennedy, "This is one school I’ve really wanted to go to."
Green, a bit undersized at 5-foot-10, is still unrated and unranked by every major recruiting service, but that will soon change with how much noise he's made this spring. The Sooners were his second Power Four offer after Nebraska was the first on April 27. He also has offers from Arkansas State, Northern Illinois and Miami (OH).
Those ratings, though, apparently don't do Green justice compared to what he showed the Sooners this week. Media that attended OU's camp also praised Green as an obvious standout.

Green would join Howell, from Broken Bow High School (OK), as the second receiver in the Sooners' 2027 class. He would fill one of the voids left by a weekend of receiver flips for OU. First, four-star Demare Dezeurn, another speedster like Green, decommitted from OU on Saturday while on a visit to Cal before completing the flip the next day. Also on Saturday, three-star Tra'Von Hall then flipped from OU to Ole Miss.
However, even if Green does commit, the Sooners still need to go find another receiver with size since Green and Howell are both listed under 6-foot.
