There's only one wide receiver left that's committed to the Oklahoma Sooners' 2027 recruiting class after a weekend of flips at the position, but that last man standing took time to assure OU fans that there's still no reason to fret as he has an insider's perspective.

After Demare Dezeurn and Tra'Von Hall both flipped during official visits somewhere else over the weekend, three-star athlete Greydon Howell, who's expected to play receiver for the Sooners once in Norman, became the only 2027 prospect OU has committed at the position. As the abrupt weekend of losses had some fans panicking and even after the head of OU wide receivers coach Emmett Jones on social media, Hall also went on X to maturely try to calm the storm.

The only 2027 WR commit left calms any Sooners recruiting worries after Demare Dezeurn and Tra'Von Hall flips

"Sooner Nation everything’s gonna be just fine trust me," Howell wrote in a post on X. "Recruiting class is still special, so is the coaching staff and most importantly the fan base! Love y'all."

Howell is a freak athlete from Broken Bow High School in Oklahoma. He's talented enough to play quarterback, running back, wide receiver or safety at the college level. Last season as a sophomore for Broken Bow, Howell totalled 4,332 yards of offense and 47 touchdowns while primarily playing quarterback and also excelling on the defensive side of the ball.

247Sports still even has Howell listed as a quarterback prospect despite being committed as a receiver. That makes his recruiting rankings and ratings a bit inaccurate. According to the 247Sports Composite, Howell, listed at 5-foot-11, is the No. 30 athlete in the 2027 class and No. 9 overall prospect in the state of Oklahoma as a three-star recruit. For comparison, Dezeurn and Hall were both ranked above Howell, but again, his recruiting ratings are skewed because his lack of a true position and his size.

To add to his unique ability, Howell has also caught the attention of OU baseball coach Skip Johnson with the possibility to play two sports for the Sooners.

Howell is one of five in-state recruits the Sooners have committed to their 2027 class, which is considered in the top three in all of college football no matter the recruiting outlet. He chose OU over other offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Boston College, Miami, Oklahoma State, Stanford and more.

Even outside of being a potential gem because of his athleticism, Howell has clearly become a crucial part of the Sooners' 2027 class since committing in March. He already seemed to be a loyal commit from the Sooner State, but his recent comment in the midst of turmoil further solidifies he's also a voice in the group that will help bolster the recruiting class.
