The Oklahoma Sooners didn't just host any offensive tackle this week, but the best that the 2028 class has to offer.
Collin Kennedy of 247Sports reported that R’Monie Edwards, the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2028 class, took an official visit to OU on Monday in the midst of the Sooners' spring camp.
R’Monie Edwards visits Oklahoma as 5-star OT to continue 2028 momentum
Edwards, listed at 6-foot-5 and 310 pounds, already has five stars heading into his junior year based on the 247Sports Composite. He's the No. 15 overall prospect in the country and No. 2 player in the state of Texas out of Cy Ranch High School. 247Sports is extremely high on Edwards as the No. 3 prospect in the class and top player in Texas.
Edwards quickly showed up on recruiting radars after starting at left tackle at the Texas 6A level as a freshman. He also plays basketball to show off his athleticism as a big man.
The Sooners offered Edwards on Jan. 12 to join a list of offers that also includes Texas, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and more.
OU's 2027 additions to the offensive line are already special, but landing Edwards would put the Sooners on track to make the 2028 group somehow even better. The Sooners' 2027 commits already include a pair five-star offensive tackles in Cooper Hackett and Kaeden Penny, as well as three-star OT Luke Wilson and three-star interior offensive lineman Tyson Ross. Four-star offensive tackle Brian Swanson also has OU in his top 8 as he nears a decision.

As for the 2028 class, the Sooners have one pledge so far in running back Micah Rhodes, who 247Sports ranks as the best RB in the class. Rhodes' commitment is shaky now, though, since running backs coach DeMarco Murray left for the same job with the Kansas City Chiefs shortly after Rhodes' decision. Regardless, it's still extremely early in the process, and all signs point toward the Sooners' 2028 class being on par with what they've built in 2027.
