In just one day, the Oklahoma Sooners missed out on not just one, but two top wide receiver targets from the 2026 class.

Craig Dandridge announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs on Thursday, then Jayden Petit chose the Wisconsin Badgers. Both are four-star recruits who had included the Sooners in their final school options.

Both players were top-50 prospects at their position, but, according to the 247Sports Composite, Petit is ranked higher as the No. 31 wide receiver. Dandridge is at No. 38. And listed at 6-foot-4, Petit also would had brought size to the outside that the Sooners have recently struggled to find. Dandridge is listed at 6-foot-1.

The Sooners have just one 2026 receiver committed so far in four-star Daniel Odom, but even he's not a lock right now. Odom grew up playing with quarterback Jaden O'Neal in California, but O'Neal recently flipped his commitment from OU to Florida State, so there's fear O'Neal was a big reason why Odom chose the Sooners.

Odom committed to OU in January. However, Odom has been entertaining other options since, and one is especially worrisome. On June 6, Odom took an official visit to Florida State the weekend before O'Neal took his there. It's one of three official visits Odom has taken this summer.

"I’m opening my eyes to everybody because there are great opportunities," Odom told Rivals' Sam Spiegelman in March.

Odom was at OU during the Sooners' ChampU BBQ last weekend. O'Neal was also supposed to be in Norman for the event, but he decommitted the day before. Instead, new quarterback pledge Bowe Bentley attended the ChampU BBQ. Odom also visited Washington on May 30.

Overall, the Sooners have 13 commits so far in their 2026 class with plenty more projected to join soon. However, none of OU's current projections are receivers.
