Oklahoma softball got an early taste of spring on Tuesday as it shut out the East Texas A&M Lions by a whopping 22-0 in the lone road game for the fall. After facing each other in the first Battle Series on Oct. 3, the 2026 roster played 10 innings in Commerce, Texas, where the staff of sophomores, LHP Audrey Lowry and RHP Miali Guachino, and freshman RHP Berkley Zache denied a single run and allowed only two hits.
The Sooners practically had a repeat of the regular-season clash between the two teams on Love’s Field in March, which left East Texas A&M scoreless after an 8-0 mercy rule no-hitter.
Sooners shut out East Texas A&M with 22-0 victory
After a slow start in the first inning, the offense got going in the second when sophomore Sydney Barker hammered a home run that put the Sooners in the lead, followed by junior DP Ella Parker and sophomore SS Gabbie Garcia with two doubles that brought the run total to four. The momentum only grew taller with the highlight of the night in the third inning when senior catcher Isabela Emerling smacked a grand slam and doubled the score tally to eight.
Ella Parker continued her offensive streak with another RBI double in the fifth inning, which put double digits of 11-0 on the scoreboard while the Lions were still on the plate without any hits. As junior second baseman Kasidi Pickering contributed to the offense with a triple-run in the sixth, the final inning had freshman catcher Kendall Wells seal the deal with her second bomb in two straight fall games, and Berkley Zache on the mound with three straight outs to the end game.
The Sooners will return to Norman for the remaining fall schedule and play an interdivision scrimmage against Division-II Oklahoma Christian on Wednesday. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Love’s Field.
