It didn't matter who Patty Gasson put in the circle Wednesday night for the Oklahoma Sooners, East Texas A&M wasn't touching them.
Isabella Smith, Kierston Deal and Paytn Monticelli pitched a combined no-hitter in the Sooners' 8-0 win against East Texas A&M at Love's Field. Just one walk kept OU from being perfect.
And the Sooners accomplished the feat without even using ace Sam Landry, who was just named SEC Pitcher of the Week after appearing in all four of OU's games last week.

Smith got the start Wednesday but pitched only the first two innings and struck out four. Deal entered in the third and got the win despite being in just one inning. Monticelli then finished the run-rule victory with the last two innings and walked one in the fourth inning.
Although the pitchers were close to it, freshman shortstop Gabbie Garcia actually was perfect at the plate. Fresh off winning SEC Player of the Week, Garcia went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. She extended her hitting streak to 13 games in the process.
The easy midweek win improved the No. 1 Sooners to 27-0 on the season. They're still the only undefeated team left in Division-I softball.
Next, OU has another SEC weekend series against old Big 12 foe Missouri. The Sooners will travel to Columbia on Friday for the weekend series. The Tigers are 17-13 and the only unranked conference opponent on the Sooners' schedule.
