The Oklahoma Sooners are winning everything in SEC softball.
After sweeping the Arkansas Razorbacks this past weekend, the Sooners nearly did the same with the SEC's weekly awards. OU players won two of three awards named this week.
Freshman shortstop Gabbie Garcia was named SEC Player of the Week, along with Texas A&M infielder Amari Harper. Sam Landry was announced as SEC Pitcher of the Week with Ole Miss' Miali Guachino.
The only award there wasn't a Sooner announced was SEC Freshman of the Week, which was given to LSU utility player Tori Edwards. However, considering Garcia is a freshman who won SEC Player of the Week, it's fair to assume she also had the best week among all freshmen in the SEC.
In four games last week, including a three-game road series against Arkansas, Garcia hit .538 with seven hits, including a double and three home runs. Two of those long balls came in Game 3 against Arkansas on Sunday. She also added six runs and eight RBI.
Landry pitched all four games for the Sooners last week while tallying a pair of wins and two saves. Landry, a senior transfer from Louisianna, gave up just one run all week in 15 innings. She struck out 15, averaging a strikeout an inning.
The Sooners run-ruled Tulsa in T-Town 10-2 on Wednesday before sweeping Arkansas over the weekend. OU has started the season 26-0, which includes a 6-0 record so far in its first year in the SEC. The Sooners are the last undefeated team left in Division-I softball.
OU will be back at Love's Field briefly this week against East Texas A&M on Wednesday night before hitting the road again to play Missouri this weekend.
