Oklahoma-Alabama opening odds

The Oklahoma Sooners started the week as more than touchdown underdogs before hitting the road to play No. 4 at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday on ABC.

According to BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel as of Monday, Alabama was a 6.5-point favorite over OU. FanDuel also set the over/under at 46.5 points.

Brent Venables on Dabo Swinney's impression

OU head coach Brent Venables spent part of his bye week going to Clemson to watch his son, Tyler, play where Venables was the defensive coordinator for 10 seasons under Dabo Swinney. After the game on Saturday, Swinney was asked about Venables being back on the sideline at Death Valley and delivered a perfect impression.

Venables during his weekly press conference on Monday was then asked what he though about Swinney's impression of him, and although he hadn't actually seen it yet, Venables still knew it was spot on.

"He's got me down," Venables said. "He's gotten about everybody down. He's good at the impressions."

Sooners' CFP odds dip

Despite not even playing last week, the Sooners' already slim College Football Playoff chances dwindled even more, at least according to ESPN's College Football Power Index. As of Monday, ESPN's FPI listed OU's playoff chances at 31.9%. That was a dip of nearly 5% after being at 36.1% this time last week.

Regardless of what the Sooners' chances are now, their CFP hopes all ride on Saturday's trip to Alabama. A win would propel the Sooners comfortably in the playoff race, while a loss would dash all hope.
