Vegas disrespecting Sooners again before Alabama battle

Once again, Vegas has no faith in OU.

Despite the Oklahoma Sooners making Vegas oddsmakers look like absolute fools last year, those coming up with spreads once again aren't giving the Sooners a real chance against the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday.

The No. 11 Sooners travel to Tuscaloosa this weekend to play No. 4 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday, and as the game week started on Monday, nearly every major Vegas oddsmaker had OU as at least a touchdown underdog.

Opening betting odds for Oklahoma vs Alabama

According to BetMGM, DraftKings and FanDuel on Monday, Alabama was a 6.5-point favorite over OU. That's still drastically better than the 14-point spread the Crimson Tide opened with earlier in the year.

FanDuel also set the over/under at 46.5 points as of Monday.

The Sooners are 4-4-1 against the spread this season and 1-1 as underdogs. The first time in 2025 OU wasn't favored was a loss to Texas in the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners then closed by as much as 3-point underdogs before beating Tennessee 33-27 on the road in their last outing two weeks ago.

Although Vegas tends to know what's up more than most, college football is still unpredictable and oddsmakers were also way off before OU and Alabama met last year. Despite the matchup being in Norman on the Sooners' home field, most sports books still had Alabama as a 13.5- to 14-point favorite over OU last season. In the end, the Sooners actually proved to be better by multiple touchdowns with a 24-3 victory.

That's two instances right there why Sooner Nation shouldn't lose sleep this week about Vegas favoring Alabama.
