The bad situation the Oklahoma Sooners are already in just keeps getting worse.

The Sooners have struggled to land wide receivers from the 2026 recruiting class and the fear of losing their only commit so far just keeps growing. Rivals' Adam Gorney reported Tuesday that OU commit Daniel Odom is planning to visit the Colorado Buffaloes this upcoming season after already taking other official visits this summer.

Daniel Odom is planning to visit Colorado

Odom committed to the Sooners in January as a consensus four-star recruit out of St. John Bosco High School in California. According to the 247Sports Composite, Odom is the No. 40 wide receiver in the class and 25th-best overall player in the state.

Last season as a junior, Odom, listed at 6-foot-1, had 45 catches for 682 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games.

The worry of the Sooners losing Odom is nothing new. He grew up playing with quarterback Jaden O'Neal, who recently flipped his commitment from OU to Florida State. Even before that, Odom was already entertaining other options, so his childhood friend jumping ship only increased the likelihood of Odom doing the same.

This summer, Odom took reported official visits to Florida State and Washington. He was also in Norman on June 20 during OU's ChampU BBQ recruiting event. Even back in March, Odom told Rivals' Sam Spiegelman, "I’m opening my eyes to everybody because there are great opportunities."

This drama with Odom is in the midst of the Sooners' uphill battle to land receivers. They continue to miss out on talent after emerging as finalists. Just in one day last month, OU lost two four-star WRs that had the Sooners in their final choices. OU's biggest slip-up was letting hometown Norman North High School product Mason James walk away to Washington as a four-star recruit. More recently, four-star WR Jordan Clay chose Baylor over OU.

I already wrote about OU running out of options after Clay's decision, but now the Sooners are trying to hold onto all they got right now. If Odom does change his mind, the options to replace him are slim. OU is at least projected to land four-star WR Davian Groce, but other than that, most of the Sooners' targets have already picked somewhere else.
