Oklahoma fans are finally getting to witness general manager Jim Nagy really do his thing.
The Sooners didn't hire Nagy until late February in 2025, so when the Transfer Portal opened on Friday, it officially began Nagy's first full transfer cycle leading OU's recruiting efforts. In basically just a day's work, Nagy already had OU with a top-5 transfer class in the country after landing six commitments on Monday alone and nine total.
Sooners rocket up transfer rankings as Jim Nagy finally runs the show
As of Tuesday, both On3 and 247Sports had the Sooners with the No. 4 Transfer Portal class in college football. The Sooners had the top class in the SEC based on 247Sports' rankings, and second-best according to On3, behind Ole Miss.
Penn State and Oklahoma State top 247Sports' rankings, but have 23 and 20 commits, respectively, as their new head coaches have brought almost their entire former roster with them already. Indiana is No. 1 in On3's rankings with eight commits, while Texas Tech is second with nine.
The Sooners began Monday with the No. 5 class, but the additions of wide receiver Parker Livignstone and defensive end Kenny Ozowalu within moments of each other jolted OU up a spot.
Based on 247Sports' ratings, Arkansas transfer offensive lineman E’Marion Harris is the Sooners' headliner of the class so far as a four-star recruit and No. 5 offensive tackle available in the portal this cycle.
Former Virginia wide receiver Trell Harris is another four-star prospect as the No. 13 receiver in the portal. On3 also gave Harris four stars as the No. 9 wide receiver. Livingstone then joined Harris as another four-star prospect joining the position and was the No. 16 receiver available.
Of the Sooners' 20 portal losses this cycle, only linebacker Kobie McKinzie was given four stars by 247Sports, but On3 handed him three.
The rest of the Sooners' class so far is made up of three-star additions, including Ozowalu, tight end Hayden Hansen, cornerback Dakoda Fields, offensive lineman Caleb Nitta, tight end Rocky Beers and running back Lloyd Avant.
Based on On3's rankings, four of the top five portal prospects are still uncommitted, and Nagy isn't done yet either, so there will still be plenty of movement before the portal closes on Jan. 16 and roster additions settle. However, considering the Sooners had the No. 51 transfer class last year, it's already been assured Nagy has OU in better hands than ever before.
