The first thing fans do when the Oklahoma Sooners add a player from the Transfer Portal is look to see what they've actually accomplished on the field, so Sooner Nation will be pleased with OU general manager Jim Nagy's latest addition.
On3's Hayes Fawcett reported on Monday that Virginia transfer wide receiver Trell Harris committed to the Sooners after an All-ACC season for the Cavaliers in 2025. He has one year of eligibility left.
Jim Nagy and Sooners land Trell Harris out of Transfer Portal
Harris this season led the Cavaliers with 59 receptions and 847 receiving yards, plus caught five touchdowns, which was tied for the team lead. He put together two games with more than 100 receiving yards, including 145 against Stanford and 161 against future ACC champion Duke. He also found the end zone three times in the first quarter of that game against Stanford. Harris was named named ACC Receiver of the Week after both performances and was Third-Team All-ACC after the season.
Listed at 6-foot, Harris does most of his damage thanks to his speed, which OU fans also saw a lot of from Isaiah Sategna III this season. Of Harris' 847 receiving yards this season, 363 came after the catch as he averaged 14.4 yards a catch and blew past secondaries to get open deep. Even if Sategna returns in 2026, the Sooners still need more big-play ability on their offense to get back to the College Football Playoff. Harris also has the ability to pull off incredible diving catches to pair with his speed.
Harris got to Virginia in 2024 after transferring from Kent State. He made four starts in his first year with the Cavaliers, but those were his only appearances after missing eight games with an injury.
Here’s a look at new #Sooners wideout Trell Harris, who should be a real weapon in this offense. In 2025 at Virginia, he posted:

The Sooners have made three portal additions so far after Harris, including tight end Hayden Hansen and offensive lineman Caleb Nitta. Harris and Hansen should both be immediate contributors in OU's passing game next season.
