He can't win championships alone, but apparently Bill Belichick can at least win recruiting battles without Tom Brady.

Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported on Wednesday that offensive lineman Will Conroy flipped his commitment from the Oklahoma Sooners to Belichick's North Carolina.

Will Conroy flips from Sooners to UNC

This was not a development that came out of the blue. Belichick visited Conroy at his high school in January shortly after Belichick took over at UNC.

"Tremendous honor to have an opportunity to play for the greatest NFL coach of all-time! A very surreal and special moment," Conroy posted with a picture then, insinuating a flip was certainly possible despite a prior commitment.

Conroy pledged to the Sooners on Dec. 16 after OU offered on March 6, 2024. UNC didn't offer until Jan. 28, the same day Belichick visited Conroy. Conroy's decommitment came just two days before he was supposed to take his official visit to OU during the Sooners' ChampU BBQ. He hasn't reportedly visited UNC yet.

Conroy, listed at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, is a consensus three-star recruit out of IMG Academy in Florida. According to the 247Sports Composite, Conroy is the No. 49 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class and No. 76 overall prospect in the state of Florida.

With Conroy gone, the Sooners' 2026 class now sits at 10 commits, including three-star interior offensive lineman Noah Best, who just committed last week. Best, from Midlothian, Texas, is 14 spots ahead of Conroy in position rankings, according to the 247Sports Composite.

On3 is the highest on OU's 2026 class, and the loss of Conroy dropped the Sooners a spot to No. 18 in On3's team recruiting rankings. However, OU has a big weekend ahead on the recruiting trail with the ChampU BBQ here.
