The Oklahoma Sooners might have hit a well that keeps springing elite defensive talent.
The Sooners have extended a host of offers to Desert Edge High School's defense in Goodyear, Arizona, and with one 2027 commit already from the program in three-star cornerback Mikyal Davis, a 2028 prospect could be following his teammate. And he's probably the best the loaded program has to offer.
Rivals' Brandon Huffman reported on Friday that 2028 five-star edge rusher Jalanie George has narrowed his college options down to six, including OU, Auburn, Florida, Washington, Miami and Ohio State. He also had offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Georgia, Indiana, LSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Vanderbilt and more.
Jalanie George could be close behind teammate Mikyal Davis to Oklahoma
The Sooners entered the mix for George on Oct. 4 as his 20th Division-I offer. OU has also offered nearly half of George's defensive teammates at Desert Edge High School, including Davis, defensive back Nekhi Lambeth, defensive back Jaelyn Easterling-Flores and defensive lineman Yahzeen Zion. If there's one in particular the Sooners want, though, it's George, and Davis can help make that happen as an underrated advantage.

According to the 247Sports Composite, George, listed at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, is the No. 2 edge rusher in the 2028 class. Rivals ranks him as the top prospect at the position, though. Rivals also has George as the No. 4 overall player in the country and the best in the state of Arizona.
George immediately stood out even on what's obviously a loaded high school unit. He was named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American in 2024 after recording 63 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, two pass breakups and an interception in 14 games as his team claimed a state title.
Last season as a sophomore, he had 54 tackles, 16 TFL, 6.5 sacks, two pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble return. He was then invited to next year's Adidas Polynesian Bowl.
The Sooners are still after their first 2028 commit since running back Micah Rhodes decommitted from the group. OU couldn't ask for a bigger domino to fall than George as its first addition to lead to even more and the 2028 group possibly even outdoing the 2027 class, which 247Sports ranks as the best in college football.
George is scheduled to visit Auburn on Saturday, but a trip to Oklahoma should also be in his near future sometime this summer.
