Where the Sooners should be in next CFP rankings after another ranked win

There are just two College Football Playoff Rankings left to unveil before the ones that really matter on Dec. 7 that decide the seeding for the CFP.

The Oklahoma Sooners bolstered their resume even more with a 17-6 win over No. 22 Missouri for their fifth ranked victory the season. The Sooners are one win over LSU away from clinching a spot in the CFP, but now also eye a better ranking to improve their chances of hosting a first-round game in Norman.

Between resumes and actual outcomes, this is how the CFP top-12 should look come Tuesday evening.

There's not much change throughout the top 12, starting at the top. The Aggies had a lackluster win over Samford last week, but there's still no need to remove them from the No. 1 spot as long as they keep surviving an SEC slate unscathed.

Texas A&M has its biggest test of the season next, though, against Texas in Austin on the night of Black Friday.

The Buckeyes have been No. 1 in the real CFP rankings since their debut this season, but there could be no argument after this weekend that they deserve to be above Texas A&M. The Aggies could lose to Texas, but Ohio State also plays Michigan on Saturday, so a dominant victory in the rivalry game could be enough to jump the Buckeyes, no matter what Texas A&M does.

Other than an early win over Oregon, Indiana just hasn't accomplished enough to be in the top 2, but the Hoosiers' undefeated record also still has them rightfully above everyone else.

Georgia will likely get Texas A&M in the SEC Championship Game to prove its better than the Aggies, which Bulldog fans have been claiming, but first, Georgia has in-state rival Georgia Tech to further solidify how much more competitive the SEC is over the ACC. However, a loss to Georgia Tech would plummet the Bulldogs in rankings at the worst time.

The Red Raiders had a bye, but still improved a spot, but only because of what's going on in Oxford, not Lubbock. Regardless, if the Red Raiders keep dominating Big 12 competition, they should earn a first-round bye as a top-4 team by the end.

The Rebels were also on a bye, but still probably suffered their biggest loss in years with head coach Lane Kiffin reportedly flying all over the place to ink a deal with an unknown new school. It's hard to dock athletes for a selfish head coach, but with it seeming like Kiffin will be gone before the playoff even kicks off, that's even more vital than a team missing a star player, which also hurts teams in rankings. The committee will also probably factor that in once things become official.

The Sooners stacked their resume even more after beating No. 22 Missouri for their fifth ranked win and fourth victory over a team included in last week's CFP rankings. That's more than anyone else in the country.

Even with two losses, the Sooners have one of the best resumes in college football, no matter how fans or experts feel about the eye test. But those two blemishes are still keeping Oklahoma from being any higher.

Alabama's resume is just as impressive as the Sooners', but OU took down the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. Dan Lanning might hate this, but the Crimson Tide have still accomplished more than Oregon this season.

Oregon will definitely be higher than this in every set of real rankings, but the Ducks haven't done anything worth getting excited about this season, even after beating No. 15 USC on Saturday. Oregon's FBS opponents have a combined record of 44-55 and a .444 winning percentage this season, so that 10-1 record still isn't as impressive as OU or Bama with two losses.

BYU notched a solid road win against Cincinnati to stay put at No. 10. With one loss and just as impressive wins, the Cougars belong above Miami and Notre Dame.

Just like last week, Miami deserves this spot because of its early victory over Notre Dame. Unless Miami loses again or the Fighting Irish have a time machine to change that outcome, there's no reason Notre Dame should be ahead of Miami if actual head-to-head matchups mean anything (which it apparently doesn't for the committee).

Notre Dame annihilated Syracuse 70-7 on Saturday, but no matter how dominant the Fighting Irish continue to be against weak opponents, they still failed in their opportunities to actually impress, including against Miami.
