The Sooners are getting a playmaker out of Isaiah Sategna.
Sategna committed to Oklahoma out of the transfer portal on Thursday. As a redshirt sophomore, Sategna will have two years of eligibility after spending the last three seasons at Arkansas.
At Arkansas, Sategna totaled 54 receptions, 632 receiving yards and three TDs. Most of that production came this season with 37 catches, 491 yards and a score. He caught a pair of TDs in 2023.
Sategna is also an asset on special teams, too, as a return man. In 2023, he returned 15 punts for 180 yards and took one back for a score. He also returned 23 kickoffs for 500 yards.
That explosiveness helps Sategna as a receiver, too. And he not only has the speed to get past defenders, but can also go up and get balls, too, at 5-foot-11. He proved that this season against SEC competitions.
Coming in already with experience against SEC talent will give Sategna a leg up over the other incoming wide receivers coming from either the high school ranks or Southern Illinois or Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Sategna also creates more opportunities to see the field and make plays because of his versatility on special teams. The Sooners could use a consistent return man after Peyton Bowman, a cornerback, struggled at times fielding returns this season.
The Sooners have added three receivers from the transfer portal so far, including Keontez Lewis from Southern Illinois and Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Javonnie Gibson.
However, OU also lost six receivers to the transfer portal.
