The Sooners seem to have made it a priority through the transfer portal to fix their lack of size at wide receiver.
Keontez Lewis committed to Oklahoma out of the transfer portal on Wednesday, just before the Sooners landed quarterback John Mateer, who was the No. 1 prospect available. The Mateer news buried Lewis' addition, but that doesn't mean he can't be a big part in Mateer becoming all he can as a Sooner.
Norman will be Lewis' fourth stop after spending this season at Southern Illinois. He started his career at UCLA before spending two seasons with Wisconsin. OU will be his final destination as a redshirt senior.
Lewis broke out during his lone season at Southern Illinois this year, recording career-highs in receptions, receiving yards and TDs. He had 49 catches for 790 yards and five TDs. That included an outing against Illinois State with a career-high 153 receiving yards.
Lewis transferred to Southern Illinois after playing only six snaps for Wisconsin in 2023, which was Luke Fickell's first season in charge. Prior to Fickell's arrival in 2022, Lewis had 20 receptions, 313 receiving yards and three TDs.
What Lewis will immediately add to the Sooners' roster is size and depth. He's listed at a lengthy 6-foot-2 and 190 pounds.
Lewis also has the speed to get past secondaries like the rest of OU's young receivers do, however, on top of that speed, Lewis also possesses the length, as well, to help grab jump balls.
Lewis is one of three receivers OU has added from the transfer portal so far, joining Arkansas-Pine Bluff's Javonnie Gibson and Arkansas' Isaiah Satenga. However, the Sooners also lost six receivers to the transfer portal.
