The Oklahoma Sooners could have laid out at a red carpet with all the stars they've been hosting in Norman this week.

Four-star 2028 wide receiver Damarion Mays posted via X on Monday that he visited OU as the Sooners are in the midst of spring camp and starting to build their 2028 recruiting class. Mays posted a picture that not only included OU head coach Brent Venables and wide receivers coach Emmett Jones, but also quarterbacks John Mateer and Bowe Bentley, who could be the one throwing passes to Mays one day on Owen Field.

Mays, listed at 6-foot-2, has everything the Sooners would want in a future weapon for Bentley as one of the top receivers in the 2028 class. According to the 247Sports Composite, Mays is the No. 7 receiver in the country and No. 39 overall player. He's also the No. 5 prospect in the state of Texas out of North Crowley High School.

The Sooners are part of a lengthy list of offers that also includes Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Miami, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, USC and more. OU extended its offer over a year ago on March 8, 2025. Mays also visited Texas A&M this week during the Aggies' spring camp.

Mays got a lot of attention early after breaking out with 1,640 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman at Dallas Life Oak Cliff. He then transferred to North Crowley.

OU has had a busy recruiting week on campus. Big-time 2028 targets that the Sooners hosted this past week include five-star offensive tackle R’Monie Edwards and four-star tight end Ridge Janes. Four-star athlete Bode Sparrow from the 2027 class also took an official to Oklahoma on Sunday.

The Sooners have just started revving up their pursuit of 2028 prospects after assembling what's currently the No. 1 2027 recruiting class in college football with 20 total commits. So far, Micah Rhodes, who 247Sports ranks as the top running back in the country, is is the Sooners' lone 2028 commit.
