It takes more than just Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables and general manager Jim Nagy and their staffs to assemble the best recruiting class in college football.

Already with 19 total commits to boast the No. 1 2027 recruiting class in the country, one of those commits, four-star edge rusher Krew Jones, is trying his hardest to get that number to an even 20 by sealing the deal with four-star athlete Bode Sparrow.

Rivals' Parker Thune on Sunday reported Jones' efforts as a recruiter in the pursuit of Sparrow.

“It seems like every day, I’m like, ‘Bro, when are you gonna (commit)?’” Jones told Thune of Sparrow.

Bode Sparrow nearing decision after OU official visit

According to the 247Sports Composite, Sparrow, listed at 6-foot-2, is the No. 3 athlete in the 2027 class and the No. 66 overall prospect while also being the best player in the state of Utah out of Davis High School. He's talented enough as a two-way player to play either wide receiver or defensive back at the college level, but would be expected to play safety for the Sooners, joining Jones on that side of the ball under Venables. He's also a standout basketball player to further prove his insane athleticism.

As a safety last season, Sparrow recorded 71 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and seven interceptions in 12 games, according to MaxPreps. Offensively, he caught 83 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns. And for those also curious about Sparrow's ability on the hardwood, he averaged 13.2 points a game.

A decision from Sparrow should be coming soon and Jones' hard work will likely pay off with a new future teammate. Sparrow is already predicted by multiple recruiting experts to commit to the Sooners after narrowing his choices down to 10 in January between OU, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Arizona State, Michigan, Utah, BYU, Tennessee and Oregon.

Sparrow was in Norman for an official visit on Sunday, so that commitment could be known any minute now. He still has an official visit to BYU scheduled for June 19, though.

If Sparrow does follow through with what's expected, he'd become the fifth highest-rated commit in the Sooners' No. 2027 class.
