Somehow still eligible, former Oklahoma men's basketball player finds new home in ACC

How is he still eligible?

For the fourth time in his career (and assumably last), Duke Miles has a new home.

Miles, a redshirt senior guard, entered the transfer portal last week to leave the Oklahoma Sooners. On Monday, Joe Tipton of On3 reported that Miles will transfer to Virginia for what should finally be Miles' last year of eligibility.

Duke Miles leaves Sooners for Virginia

Somehow, Miles still has eligibility and his career didn't end in Norman, but don't ask me how. Next season will be Miles' sixth year in Division-I college basketball at his fourth different program, a true modern day college basketball journey.

Miles started his career at Troy, where he spent the most time for three years. He redshirted his last season there in 2022-23. Miles then transferred to High Point for the 2023-24 season as a redshirt junior.

Outside of his redshirt year, Miles has never played less than 17 games in a season, surpassing 20 games every other season.

As a redshirt senior, Miles then transferred to OU. He started every game this season for the Sooners while averaging 9.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and two assists. He scored a season-high 29 points against Central Arkansas.

Miles was the Sooners' fourth and most recent loss to the transfer portal. He's also the only guard to leave OU via the portal, joining forwards Jacolb Fredson-Cole, Luke Northweather and Yaya Keita. Northweather already announced he's transferring to Missouri.

The Sooners are in the midst of another roster overhaul after losing 11 players from the 2024-25 roster. OU on Monday confirmed five players who will return and also added more talent from the transfer portal in former Notre Dame forward Tae Davis and Miami (FL) point guard Nijel Park.

With that, OU still has four roster spots to fill from the transfer portal with possibly four incoming freshmen.
