As is accustomed in college basketball today, the Oklahoma Sooners will have an entirely new starting lineup next season.
The Sooners lost every consistent starter from last season's team. That makes who Porter Moser will send out there when the season tips even more difficult.
However, the Sooners have notched the best transfer portal class under Moser with the help of new assistant general manager Trae Young. All of OU's four transfer newcomers should immediately crack the starting lineup.
Sooners' projected starting rotation
Xzayvier Brown, PG
The Sooners needed a point guard with Jeremiah Fears headed to the NBA, so they went and got two from the transfer portal, with Brown likely manning the point most of the time. He averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists last season as a sophomore point guard.
Nijel Pack, G
Nijel Pack was actually the first point guard OU landed from Miami. Pack was a 2-for-1deal, hopefully solving the Sooners' need for a point guard and a 3-point shooter.
With Brown manning the point, though, Pack can be utilized as a career 40.3% 3-point shooter at guard, but having two experienced point guards on the court will also be huge in OU negating turnovers and facilitating the ball, especially in SEC play.
Derrion Reid, F
Derrion Reid was OU's biggest get from the portal as a former five-star recruit who just spent his freshman season at Alabama. Reid, a 6-foot-8 forward, didn't emerge as a standout yet as a freshman, but he has the talent to end up being the best player on the court for the Sooners next season as a sophomore.
Tae Davis, F
After testing NBA Draft waters, Tae Davis decided to transfer from Notre Dame for likely his final college season at OU.
The Sooners were in desperate need of big men and immediately got that with Davis, who's listed at 6-foot-9. His experience and talent made Davis an immediate plug-and-play option. He averaged 15.1 points and 5.3 rebounds while starting every game last season at Notre Dame.
Mohamed Wague, C
After getting an extra year of eligibility, Mohamed Wague should crack the starting lineup in his fifth season of college basketball and second at OU. He averaged only 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds coming off the bench last season, but he impressed when he finally got to start in big-time games down the stretch when Sam Godwin was injured.
