Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser had already made roster additions this offseason from the Transfer Portal and even the NBA G League, and now he has a player coming from everywhere with a new high school commit, and it's one of the best Moser has ever gotten to OU.

Quincy Wadley, a four-star shooting guard from the 2026 class, committed to the Sooners on Friday after narrowing his options down to OU, LSU and Cincinnati. His decision made him one of the highest-rated high school commits of the Moser era at Oklahoma.

Quincy Wadley commits to Sooners to join same company as Jeremiah Fears and Trae Young

It's extremely late in the 2026 cycle, so Wadley, listed at 6-foot-4, was the best prospect still available in his class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he's the No. 9 shooting guard in the 2026 class and No. 52 overall prospect in the country. Based on 247Sports' rankings, which have Wadley at No. 43, he's the highest-rated preps prospect Moser has ever signed while at OU and best for the Sooners since Trae Young in 2017.

However, based on the 247Sports Composite, which compiles all recruiting rankings, Jeremiah Fears in 2024, even after reclassifying, was ranked higher than Wadley at No. 45. Regardless, that's elite company since Fears spent one season with the Sooners before becoming the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and was an immediate playmaker for the New Orleans Pelicans as a rookie this season. Both players also finished their preps careers at AZ Compass Prep in Arizona.

Last season in 18 games for AZ Compass Prep, Wadley averaged 11.8 points, 2.1 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals a game. He stands out most on the defensive end, though, which doesn't pop as much on the stat sheet. He can also play point guard and run an offense from up top.

Wadley's commitment came less than a week after the Sooners offered him on Saturday. He then visited OU on Wednesday and made his decision only two days later.

The Sooners now have just three open roster spots for 2026-27. That group includes another incoming freshman in four-star power forward Gage Mayfield, who already signed with OU back in November.
