Oklahoma head coach Porter Moser just found everything he could want from a guard with newest Transfer Portal addition Pop Isaacs.
On3's Joe Tipton reported on Wednesday that Isaacs will transfer to the Sooners for his fifth and final year to add another shooter to OU's 2026-27 roster and bring more experience than Moser could dream of from a player.
Pop Isaacs brings everything the Sooners need for NCAA Tournament success after transferring from Texas A&M
Isaacs spent last season in the SEC with Texas A&M and also had previous stops at Texas Tech and Creighton. His career started with two years at Texas Tech, where he was a Big 12 All-Freshman Team selection in 2022-23 and led the Red Raiders with 15.8 points a game as a sophomore while getting to the NCAA Tournament.
He then headed to Creighton for the 2024-25 season and averaged 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in eight starts before an injury ended the rest of his season. Isaacs' production slightly dipped last season after that injury while posting 9.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 22.3 minutes a game for Texas A&M. That career-low in minutes also resulted in lows for points and assists.

Despite the deflated overall numbers, Isaacs showed the same player was still there, though, while shooting a career-best 39.6% from three-point range. He's a career 34.9% three-point shooter who has seen improvement in the area every year but his sophomore campaign.
Isaacs, listed at 6-foot-2, will add that shooting efficiency to an OU lineup that desperately needs it while also bringing in 100 games and 74 starts worth of experience that includes a year in the SEC already, two seasons in the Big 12 when it was at its best and two NCAA Tournament appearances, all between three big-time programs.

Moser has gotten the Sooners to the NCAA Tournament just once in five seasons, and now with more resources at his disposal than ever, that should be the minimum expectation for next year. The talent OU retained alone, especially with Xzayvier Brown and Derrion Reid, should already be enough to make the Sooners an NCAA Tournament team, plus transfer additions Khani Rooths and Tyler Hendricks with Isaacs.
However, elite guard play is the recipe for March Madness success, and Isaacs could be the secret ingredient for the Sooners to dream bigger than just getting to the Big Dance, but sticking around.
