The Transfer Portal finally gave back to the Oklahoma Sooners.
OU Insider's Brody Lusk reported on Monday that the Sooners landed their first transfer addition from the portal in Louisville forward Khani Rooths, who has two years of eligibility left after spending his first two seasons with the Cardinals. It's also the Sooners' first recruiting win since hiring general manager Lucas McKay from Clemson.
According to Lusk, OU beat out national champion Michigan to get Rooths to Norman.

Rooths, listed at 6-foot-10, already has 66 career games under his belt with two starts this past season. He averaged 5.3 points while shooting 44.9% from the field and 4.3 rebounds as a sophomore while appearing in 31 games and averaging 15.9 minutes. As a freshman, he put up 3.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 38 games.
Rooths got to Louisville in 2024 as a consensus four-star recruit from IMG Academy in Florida. He's originally from Washington D.C.

Although his numbers don't pop, Rooths flashed a lot of upside during his sophomore campaign. He posted three double-doubles, including two back-to-back in ACC play against SMU and Notre Dame. He scored a career-high 20 points in the Cardinals' season-opener against South Carolina State and scored double-digits eight times as a sophomore. He also has a lot of length as a 6-foot-10 wing, which resulted in 14 blocks this season and is crucial for the Sooners throughout SEC play.

Lusk expects Rooths to start for the Sooners next season, joining returning starters Xzayvier Brown and Derrion Reid. OU also returns Dayton Forsythe, Kai Rogers and Gage Mayfield after losing four players to the portal. That still leaves two vacant starting jobs open that head coach Porter Moser will likely need the portal to fill, especially for a center as they need even more size than just Rooths.
