The Oklahoma Sooners found a wing in the Transfer Portal that's ready to make the jump back up to the Power Four level and could immediately ease one of head coach Porter Moser's biggest concerns.
OU Insider's Brody Lusk reported on Friday that Utah Valley sharp-shooting wing Tyler Hendricks is transferring to OU for his final year of eligibility in 2026-27. Hendricks spent the first three years of his career with the UCF Knights.
Tyler Hendricks commits to Sooners to bolster 3-point shooting
Hendricks is coming off a season in which he started all 29 games he played in his lone year at Utah Valley. He averaged 11.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists a game. Most importantly for the Sooners, though, who need help in the three-point department, Hendricks shot an outstanding 43.8% from beyond the arc with a team-high 60 makes.
The Sooners are needing to replace Nijel Pack, who led the team with 16.8 points a game and 123 made three-pointers last season. Hendricks won't just come in and step right into Pack's shoes, but he will definitely give OU the weapon it needs from deep.

Hendricks is a career 42.5% three-point while also including his seasons for UCF. Against Big 12 competition, Hendricks appeared in 26 games and made eight starts for UCF in 2024-25 while shooting 36.4 from three-point range. He redshirted his first year at UCF and got limited playing time in 2023-24 before upping his game, then heading to Utah Valley last offseason.
Listed at 6-foot-6, Hendricks is also versatile to play all over the court, and has the length and ability defensively needed in SEC play. There are also great genetics there as Hendricks' older brother, Taylor Hendricks, plays for the Utah Jazz as a former lottery pick.
The Sooners have added two from the Transfer Portal so far with Hendricks. The first was Louisville forward Khani Rooths. OU still isn't done in the portal, though. A dominant big man is still the Sooners' biggest need, and with Hendricks likely coming at a value, that should free up more money to swing bigger at other targets.
