This weekend, it's feeling like no more than 40 minutes can pass without Oklahoma and Brent Venables landing a new commitment from a superstar player. In case you missed it, the Sooners have picked up FIVE pledges following the big news on Sunday from Greydon Howell.

In the past couple of days, Venables has added verbals from quarterback Jamison Roberts, offensive lineman Tyson Ross, safety Jaylen Scott, Howell and tight end Seneca Driver. Yup, things have been brilliant and the team over at Rivals just made things even better for the Sooners.

That's because thanks to the massive weekend, which could lead to even more commits for OU, the Sooners now hold the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. That honor was previously held by Ohio State, but Venables working his magic has led to Oklahoma passing the Big Ten side:

Oklahoma now has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country per Rivals

This really is something. We had a feeling some amazing news was going to be on the way for the Sooners with so many top targets on campus, but did anyone really expect five new commits to lock things in with the staff? We sure didn't.

Again, even more incredible news could be on the way for Venables, as there's buzz that he might add some new members to the 2027 class sooner rather than later. For now, though, he must be fired up with the positive vibes that are surrounding the program - the future is looking quite bright.

For now, Oklahoma holds 19 known verbals for the '27 haul. Could No. 20 come in the next few hours? With the way things are going for the Sooners, no one should be surprised if that ends up happening. Venables is on fire and it must have plenty of rival fanbases a bit jealous. It feels like Venables and Co. can do no wrong out on the recruiting trail right now.
