The Jason Witten effect is obviously a real thing.
After securing Tennessee transfer Jack Van Dorselaer just a day after officially being hired as OU's new tight ends coach in January, Witten has now landed his first high school recruit with Hayes Fawcett of On3 reporting on Saturday that 2027 four-star tight end Seneca Driver committed to the Sooners in what was one of the biggest recruiting days in OU history as the Sooners added four commits while hosting their Future Freaks Junior Day.
But even in a massive day of recruiting wins, Driver was probably the biggest. And if Witten needs even more recruiting credit, his son, Cooper, is a five-star linebacker who just committed to OU this week.
Seneca Driver commits to Sooners
According to the 247Sports Composite, Driver, listed at a towering 6-foot-6 and 234 pounds, is the No. 3 tight end in the class and the No. 56 overall prospect. He's also the top player from Kentucky out of Boyle County High School. Rivals ranks Driver as the top TE in the country.
Driver became the fourth-highest rated commit in the Sooners' 2027 class was the fifth top-100 prospect, based on the 247Sports Composite.
Driver also shows off his athleticism as an outstanding basketball player.

Driver's loaded list of offers included in-state Kentucky, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and more before choosing the Sooners.
With Driver now committed, 2027 quarterback Jamison Roberts, who was the first commit of the day on Saturday, has every weapon he could dream of once he's a Sooner. The Sooners already have four offensive linemen committed in five-stars Cooper Hackett and Kaeden Penny, three-star Luke Wilson, who was the first addition of the class, and three-star Tyson Ross, who also pledged on Saturday.
At receiver, the Sooners have landed four-star Demare Dezeurn and three-star Tra'Von Hall. There's also a running back duo in the group with four-star Keldrid Ben and three-star Jaxsen Stokes.
The Sooners have the best 2027 recruiting class in the country, and that was even before adding four to the group on Saturday to put them at 18 total commitments.
