Oklahoma softball went back to playing against each other in the second intersquad Battle Series on Friday. After back-to-back blowout victories combining for 57-0 between the only two opponents for the fall, the Sooners held a three-way, six-inning scrimmage with team names that honored the program’s legends.

Team Chamberlain, with Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Kendall Wells, Sydney Barker, Tia Milloy and Abby Dayton, won over Team Ricketts with Kai Minor, Gabbie Garcia, Lexi McDaniel, Isabela Emerling and Allyssa Parker, and Team Alo with Ella Parker, Kasidi Pickering, Ailana Agbayani, Chaney Helton and Riley Zache.

Sooners continue Battle Series

The first inning saw Team Chamberlain immediately grab the lead for the entire game, which began with a single and RBI double while pitted against senior RHP Sydney Berzon to pull ahead by three runs.

The Team Chamberlain batters went back to work in the second inning with Wells blasting a home run for the fourth straight game. After McEnroe-Marinas and Barker followed up with two more bombs that increased the lead to seven, Ella Parker helped Agbayani score Team Alo’s first run. While the other two teams did not score in the third, Pickering slugged a two-run dinger off freshman RHP Berkley Zache.

As Team Ricketts continued trailing in the fourth inning while Allyssa Parker was running, an obstruction ruled by the umpires awarded her a run that finally put all teams on the board. Team Chamberlain had a fourth homer thanks to Wells, who has hit six since the exhibition season began earlier in October.

A late muscle was handed to Team Ricketts when Emerling nailed a pair of home runs in the final two innings, enough to overtake Team Alo in second, while McEnroe-Marinas scored the last run for Team Chamberlain. LHP Kierston Deal ended the game without allowing a run for Team Alo, giving the victory to Team Chamberlain with 10 runs.

Among the six pitchers on the mound, sophomore LHP Audrey Lowry was the only noe to deny a single run for three frames. Wells led the batting lineup, going for 5-for--6 at the plate, while the Sooners had a combined total of 17 runs and 22 hits.

Oklahoma softball will continue the fall slate on Thursday with Battle Series 3. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Love’s Field.
