Update on controversial TD

Voice of the Oklahoma Sooners Toby Rowland reported that OU's coaching staff actually cleared that controversial touchdown play against Auburn with game officials during a regular pregame meeting and refs confirmed it was a legal play.

Everyone has seen the viral play by now where OU wide receiver Isaiah Sategna was wide open for a 24-yard score after casually walking toward the sideline, then setting up right in front of the official uncovered.

After the game, OU offensive coordinator and head coach Brent Venables said the play was legal, and pointed out that Sategna even checked with the line judge before the play. However, the SEC released a statement later saying the play was illegal and shouldn't have counted.

The Sooners did everything in their power to assure the play was legal, which is common before every game, but now it either falls on a poorly written rule by the NCAA or ignorant SEC officials if it truly was an illegal play.

OU gets new SEC rival

On3’s Chris Low on Monday morning leaked all of the SEC permanent pairings before Tuesday evening’s show that was supposed to officially reveal it all. According to Low, the Sooners got Texas, Missouri and Ole Miss as their annual conference opponents as the SEC tried to maintain and create rivalries.

Although Low is trustworthy, these matchups will not be official until the SEC makes its announcement Tuesday evening.

Johnny Manziel responds to John Mateer

OU quarterback John Mateer had a quick comment go viral Saturday night after he was asked about the differences between him and Johnny Manziel, and responded, "I’m going to church in the morning." The question came up because of Mateer's "Money Mateer" nickname that's similar to Manziel's.

Manziel quickly fired back to Mateer's comments as a guest on Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson’s “Night Cap” podcast, first clarifying that he grew up going to church.

“My, dawg, enjoy church in the morning,” Manziel said. “I don’t take anything that he said as a slight. I get he’s trying to be funny. He is what he is. Continue to keep playing well, young fella, and all is well. Oklahoma has a good team right now, first time being 4-0 for them in a while.”
