Mayfield Top 100

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback and OU legend Baker Mayfield appeared on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2025 at No. 50 to start the top half of the annual list, which is voted on by players. The NFL released a video with players commenting about Mayfield and why he deserved to be on the list.

Mayfield was the third former Sooner to make the list so far this year after Kansas City Chiefs center Creed Humphrey at No. 93 and Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon at No. 58. And there should be even more coming later.

Sooners left out of coaches poll

For the first time since 1999, the Oklahoma Sooners were not in the top 25 of the preseason coaches poll, which is voted on by college football coaches and was released on Monday. The Sooners at least received votes and were the first team left out of the top 25. To rub salt in the wound, though, Texas was the No. 1 team for the first time in school history.

Recruiting battle with Lincoln Riley

The Sooners are trying to get some revenge over Lincoln Riley and USC on the recruiting trail. Offensive line target Breck Kolojay on Friday committed to USC over OU. Then, just a few hours later, USC offensive line commit Vlad Dyakonov announced that he received an offer from the Sooners. It was Dyakonov's first reported offer since he committed to USC in April.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Dyakonov is the No. 167 overall prospect in the 2026 class, while Kolojay is at No. 325. However, Dyakonov is listed as an offensive tackle and Kolojay is an interior offensive lineman.
