The South Carolina Gamecocks are still exactly where they were seeded. A top-8 seeding should have the Gamecocks in the WCSW, but more on future opponent UCLA later.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders could be the hottest team in the country and have a pitcher who's good enough to carry them all the way with NiJaree Canady. Last year, Canady got Stanford a game shy of the national championship series. Now, she has at least a little bit more talent in the lineup behind her. Texas Tech should beat Florida State and make noise in Oklahoma City.
The Texas Longhorns have been near the top all season, but were knocked down a peg after getting swept by the Sooners in the regular-season finale. The Longhorns are still a WCWS team, though, and shouldn't have any issues with Clemson to get there.
The UCLA Bruins have the best team left that's not from the SEC. The Bruins run-ruled their way through their regional while giving up just two runs total in three games. Now, UCLA gets its first SEC test with South Carolina.
The Tennessee Volunteers' offense was stellar in regionals and they took a step forward already as the No. 7 national seed. Next, it's Nebraska, and the Vols should have enough firepower to get past Bahl.
The Sooners needed a historical comeback to beat the Arkansas Razorbacks in the SEC Softball Tournament. Then, Arkansas got through a regional unscathed that included a dangerous Oklahoma State team with recent WCWS tradition. Arkansas also has maybe the best hitter in the country with Bri Ellis.
The Florida Gators were voted No. 1 in the preseason and are showing why now after slipping up some during the season. They ended the regular season by taking two of the three from OU before garnering the No. 3 national seed. It's only natural the Gators get bumped to the second spot after Texas A&M's fall and going 3-0 in regionals.
It seemed obvious the Sooners should have been the actual No. 1, but now after just one weekend, there's no argument who deserves to be on top. While Texas A&M choked, the Sooners outscored their three regional opponents 31-3 while run-ruling their way through. Now, OU has to get revenge against Alabama to go after its fifth national title in a row.
