After just one day of the season, no team has played more softball than the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Sooners opened their 2025 season on Thursday with wins against Cal State Northridge and San Diego State in San Diego, California. They needed more time to win that second game, though.
To start the undefeated day, Preseason All-American Ella Parker knocked in three RBI to power OU past Cal State Northridge, 7-2. CSUN actually started the game with a lead after sneaking a run across in the top of the third inning to go up 1-0.
The Sooners answered in the bottom half, though, when Abigale Dayton homered in her first at-bat as a Sooner. After transferring from Utah, Dayton was 1-1 with a walk and the homer in her OU debut.

Dayton still didn't get things going for her new team, though. CSUN answered with another run in the fourth inning. But OU finally took over from there.
Parker doubled to score Dayton and tie things up again in the fifth. The Sooners took their first lead when Kasidi Pickering tripled to score Parker. Pickering then also scored on a throwing error.
It was still Parker and Pickering the rest of the way, too. In the sixth, Parker doubled again to drive in two more run, including Dayton again. Pickering then singled in Parker.
Parker was 2-4 with two runs, three RBI, a double and a triple. Pickering was 2-3 with a run and a pair of RBI.
The Sooners had even more to overcome in the second game of the day. Again, OU started from behind,, this time thanks to a three-run homer in the second inning.
Parker was then to the rescue again. With two strikes on her, Parker fought off a single to score Sydney Barker to put OU on the board.
It wasn't until the fifth, though, when the Sooners put up four runs to take a 5-3 lead. But then San Diego State immediately tied it up with a pair of runs in the bottom half. No one scored the rest of the way to send it to extra innings.
Both teams were scoreless until they both got a run across in the eigth. Then the ninth came.
Parker started the ninth with a walk with Nelly McEnroe-Marinas already on second. Cydney Sanders then bunted both base runners into scoring position before Pickering walked to load the bases.
Catcher Isabela Emerling stepped up with bases full. Emerling then hit the ball over left field for a grand slam that gave the Sooners a 10-6 lead.
