A commitment does not scare the Oklahoma Sooners away if they want something.
The Sooners this week offered 2027 consensus four-star wide receiver Benny Easter Jr., who already pledged to Texas Tech back in November.

Easter made his commitment on Nov. 20, but his recruitment has reached a new level since then after a stellar junior season in 2025. Just since the start of the new year, Easter has picked up offers from OU, Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas and Ohio State. Those were added to a list of offers that already included Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Kansas, Houston, Colorado State and UTEP.
Last season, Easter caught 89 passes for 1,309 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior at Summer Creek High School in Humble, Texas. He also returned three kickoffs for scores. Not even Texas Tech had offered Easter until the end of his impressive junior showing on Nov. 11, just nine days before his commitment.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Easter, listed at 6-foot-2, is the No. 20 wide receiver in the 2027 class and No. 136 overall prospect. He's also the No. 21 player in the state of Texas. Rivals is the highest on Easter as the No. 16 receiver in the class and just outside the top-100 as an overall player at 110th.

The Sooners already have two receivers committed from the 2027 class, including four-star Demare Dezeurn from California and three-star Tra'Von Hall from Alabama. However, it's still 10 months away before 2027 players can actually sign and new SEC powers, including in-state Alabama, have recently started pushing harder for Hall since his commitment.
With plenty of time still left for more chaos and after what OU experienced during the 2026 class while recruiting the position, the Sooners are stacking the deck at wide receiver for 2027 and have already proven they can flip players from the position.
