The Oklahoma Sooners are trying to keep Mason James inside Norman city limits.
James is a consensus four-star wide receiver in the 2026 class from just down the road at Norman North High School. On3 ranks him as the No. 1 2026 prospect in the state of Oklahoma, while every other major recruiting service also has James inside the top 5.
Hayes Fawcett of On3 on Wednesday reported that James is down to 10 school choices, including OU, Florida, Notre Dame, Washington, Kentucky, Missouri, Michigan, Ole Miss, Kansas State and Arizona State.
James also had reported offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Miami (FL), Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and more.

Right now, Rivals and On3 predict James to stay home and be a Sooner. One would assume OU has an advantage being just down the road from James, but apparently staying close to home isn't a priority for James, considering his top choices are scattered from Washington, to Kentucky.
Rivals has James ranked as high as the 22nd-best wide receiver in the entire 2026 class.

The Sooners already have one committed wide receiver from the 2026 class in Daniel Odom, who is also a consensus four-star recruit from California.
OU's 2026 class is at four total so far early in the process, with all offensive players. That includes four-star quarterback Jaden O'Neal, who is from California but will finish his high school career at Mustang High School in Oklahoma.
The Sooners also have early commitments from four-star tight end Ryder Mix and three-star offensive lineman Will Conroy.
