Logan Lokey just became the crimson sheep of his family.
Rivals' Hayes Fawcett reported on Monday that Lokey, son of former Texas defensive lineman Derek Lokey, has committed to the Sooners' 2028 class as a four-star defensive lineman. He might play the same position as his dad, but he will be on the opposite side of the Red River.

Derek wasn't just any player at Texas, either, but a vital piece on the Longhorns' 2005 national championship squad as a team captain. He eventually joined the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2008, but then never panned out in the NFL.
The Longhorns have actually overlooked the younger Lokey, despite being an in-state recruit with a family connection. Texas is one of the few programs around to ignore Lokey, who has offers from the likes of Arkansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Miami, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Utah, Wisconsin, and more.
Lokey is the No. 29 defensive lineman in the 2028 class, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 34 overall player in the state of Texas out of Denton Guyer High School, where the Sooners also found current defensive starters Peyton and Eli Bowen.
Last season as a sophomore for Denton Guyer, Lokey recorded 21 tackles, six tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles while playing in the highest class of football in Texas. He's improved those stats this season, with 51 tackles and 22 TFLs so far, according to MaxPreps. He also still has one more season to build on before getting to Oklahoma.

Lokey's early production at a high level, and size at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, caught OU's attention quickly to extend his first Power 4 offer on Jan. 20. That early belief has obviously paid off with Lokey's commitment, even after a flood of offers followed.
Logan Lokey ends Sooners recruiting silence
The Sooners had gone the entire month of October without landing a commitment before Lokey started November with good news. OU's 2028 class is now up to five pledges, as Lokey joins tight end Connor Arant, linebacker Jay Schell, quarterback Trey Tagliaferri, and wide receiver Colton Fitzgibbon, who will also play baseball at OU. Based on the 247Sports Composite, Lokey is only ranked ahead of Fitzgibbon as a prospect.
Despite the Sooners' recent struggles at 4-4, their 2028 class is still expected to grow soon, with multiple expert predictions in that are still waiting to come true. Hopefully, Lokey is only the start of what could be a busy month for the Sooners, so their future seasons don't go the same the way 2026 is.
