The Oklahoma baseball team needs to get itself back together quick, but there's no time for fixing in the SEC.

The No. 19 Sooners will host the No. 17 Vanderbilt Commodores for a three-game series this weekend at L. Dale Mitchell Park in Norman, Oklahoma. The series will be part of a packed weekend on the OU campus with the Sooners' first-ever "Crimson Combine" happening on Saturday at Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

Sooners hosting Vanderbilt for top-20 SEC series

OU goes into this weekend on a four-game losing streak after getting swept by LSU last weekend and thumped by Dallas Baptist on Tuesday night. The Sooners have also lost their last two SEC series against LSU and Alabama, both of which were top-15 teams.

But life in the SEC is getting another top-20 opponent for a conference series. Including Vanderbilt, three of OU's next four SEC series are against ranked teams.

While the Sooners are struggling, Vanderbilt is surging. The Commodores just jumped six spots in the latest D1Baseball Top 25 after sweeping Florida last weekend. They're on a five-game winning streak and haven't lost since getting swept by the No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks.

The weak tend to just get weaker during an SEC baseball gauntlet, and the Sooners have to recover now before their season slips away after starting 11-0. Another sweep this weekend would extend OU's losing streak to seven games, and at that point, the Sooners might have to soon start fighting for an NCAA Tournament spot.
